FAST TRACK into the Nursing Profession
A 15-month program designed for individuals who want to pursue a career in nursing and already have a bachelor's or higher degree in a non-nursing major.
Beginning in the summer of 2013, Wilson School of Nursing is pleased to offer an innovative approach to nursing education called ACCEL-RN, an accelerated second-degree prelicensure BSN program. Building on previous learning and work experience, ACCEL-RN transitions individuals with non-nursing baccalaureate degrees to the discipline of nursing. Students are selected in the spring through a competitive selection processThis program will admit students in the summer semester through a competitive selection process, and courses begin full-time in the Summer I semester, continuing full time in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Graduates of this program are prepared to take the licensure examination (NCLEX) to become a registered nurse.
The undergraduate curriculum includes general education courses which provide a foundation for understanding physiological, psychosocial, political and economic factors that may affect a person’s health status. Nursing courses prepare the BSN graduate to provide holistic nursing care in a variety of complex environments in order to enhance the optimal health of individuals, families, groups, and communities. The BSN program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas.
