Listening to Grupo Fantasma, you might recognize some of their music from television placements in AMC’s Breaking Bad, Showtime’s Weeds, ABC’s Ugly Betty, NBC’s Law and Order, or John Sayles’ film Casa de los Baby’s, however this 10-piece musical collective from Austin, Texas, has been praised as one of the most important independent acts in the Latin genre and has continually defied expectations to create a unique voice. Last year they gained further acclaim by winning their first Grammy for their self-produced El Existential, praised by the Wall Street Journal as “Latin music both new and traditional…vibrant fusions that transcend easy classification.” Admission is $20 to general public; $18 for senior citizens, active duty military, and MSU alumni; free to MSU students with ID.
