              America the Beautiful, Is America Obsessed with Beauty?

More than 40,000 media messages a year tell young women that unless they look like super models they will never be beautiful. Why? Because this unrealistic ideal is big business with more than 12 billion dollars a year spent on plastic surgery alone, as well as leading to a rising sense of low self-esteem among young women and an increasing number of eating disorders among those who think they can’t measure up.

Filmmaker Darryl Roberts screens his entertaining but candid award-winning documentary “America the Beautiful” and will take questions and comments from the audience.
