Fall 2013 Geosciences &
Environmental Science Colloquium Series

The College of Science and Mathematics is sponsoring
the Geosciences and Environmental Science Colloquium
Series this fall for the campus community. The series will
open with a presentation by Dr. Scott Meddaugh, Robert
L. Bolin Distinguished Professor of Petroleum Geology
at MSU, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, September 26, in Bolin
312. Meddaugh will present “Optimism in Reservoir Production Forecasting – Impact of Geology, Heterogeneity,
Geostatistics, Reservoir Modeling, and Uncertainty.”
The fall schedule is as follows:

“Results from the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity” by
Dr. John Grant, Center for Earth and Planetary Studies
National Air and Space Museum, Mars Science Laboratory

5:30 p.m. Thursday, November 7
“Using seismic tomography to image subduction systems: Applications to Costa Rica-Nicaragua and Sumatra” by Dr. Heather DeShon, Associate Professor of Geophysics at SMU
