Extended Education Technology Trainer
The Technology Trainer assists and participates in meeting the training and development needs of faculty, and coordinates, designs, and/or delivers a variety of specific training and development programs for Internet instruction and technology enhanced classroom delivery. Provides basic instruction for faculty and staff in various Microsoft Office programs. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Extended Education.
Delivers group and individual training and instruction covering specific areas. Formulates training outlines and determines instructional methods, utilizing knowledge of specific training needs and the effectiveness of methods such as: individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops. Coordinates and performs other such administrative functions as required to deliver and document training programs.
Two years experience in online or web-enhanced teaching, training, design, or support, as well as some experience in a post secondary educational setting. Requires demonstrated experience in supporting faculty and staff with online or web-enhanced courses in higher education and assisting with technical problems.
Must have teaching and facilitation skills; must be familiar with WebCT or other course management software. Requires working technical knowledge of capabilities, applications, and limitations of data processing equipment, as well as working knowledge of basic computer concepts.
Bachelor's degree preferred. Some college plus relevant experience in instructional design and/or educational technology may be substituted for degree.
Ability to plan and schedule work efficiently. Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task, and to work independently. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; advanced oral and written communication skills, organizational skills; and the ability to determine training objectives. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
