Title: Custodial Services, Assistant Superintendent
Description: Performs responsible supervisory assistance to direct and coordinate the cleaning and care of a group of buildings. Responsible for moving furniture and equipment campus wide as well as to and from campus extensions in Wichita Falls. Able to set up and tear down equipment for major campus events. Work involves planning, assigning, and reviewing the work of forepersons and subordinates, and maintaining effective working relations with building occupants. Work is performed with considerable independence. Reports to the Custodial Superintendent.
Examples: Assists in developing a coordinated maintenance schedule for custodians. Plans, assigns, and reviews work of forepersons and subordinates. Works with occupants of the buildings to achieve effective service. Coordinates schedule of moves, set ups and deliveries with faculty/staff.
Physical Condition: Moderate physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over fifty pounds. Moderate strength and stamina.
Experience: Minimum of five years custodial experience with three years in a supervisory position. Should have considerable experience in the operations and maintenance of large buildings and in the supervision of custodial workers.
Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of building maintenance methods, including modern methods of cleaning supplies and the use and maintenance of equipment. Familiar with the use and care of manual and mechanical types of equipment and tools. Extensive knowledge of building maintenance chemicals. Computer skills in Windows, word processing, data base and calendar.
Education: High school graduation or equivalent. Five years combined experience as a custodian and/or foreperson will satisfy education requirement.
Additional Requirements: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with occupants and associates. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must be able to analyze and solve work problems. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Requires employment physical exam. *A valid Texas driver's license is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
