Assistant to President
Provides secretarial and administrative support to the University President and the Executive Assistant to the President that involves planning, organizing, and performing a variety of complex technical, clerical, and administrative duties. Responsible for the coordination of the day-to-day operation of the University Presidentís Office. Works under general supervision of the Executive Assistant to the President with latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Handles routine and confidential correspondence. Schedules appointments, maintains files, fiscal records, and restricted information. Performs specialized tasks requiring high level of skill in typing, computer operation, use of transcribing equipment, taking of minutes, preparing reports, and special studies. Responsible for financial management of several university accounts and maintains records on these accounts.
Should have considerable progressively responsible experience in general office practices and procedures, including some administrative work and personnel supervision. Skilled use of PC and other office equipment.
Working knowledge of business English, spelling, and punctuation. Thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Skill in the use of mechanical transcribing equipment and word processing equipment. Ability to type, maintain files, and use office equipment such as computer, typewriter, ten-key adding machine, Dictaphone, laminating machine and copy machine.
Prefer Bachelorís degree; however, high school graduation with heavy experience in the specific job areas may be substituted.
Requires courtesy and professionalism. Ability to use good judgment in making decisions. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently on difficult or complex assignments. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, subordinates, and the general public. Must be well organized and able to work in a fast paced environment.
