Director, Center for Continuing, Professional, and Distance Education
Responsible for the overall coordination and administration of the University’s distance learning programs, Adult Continuing Education, Intensive English Language Institute (IELI), and compliance issues regarding State Authorization, Federal Regulation Chapter 34, 600.9(c). Prepares reports to applicable agencies concerning compliance with regulations and contractual agreements involving areas of responsibility. Supervises staff within those departments and manages the budgets of DE, CE, and IELI. Responsible for coordination of all distance learning efforts involving Internet courses currently offered as well as future growth. Reports directly to the Vice President for Administration and Institutional Effectiveness and assists in all areas of the university as assigned.
Works closely with the Vice President and Deans involved with one or more aspects of distance learning. Oversees the scheduling of training for faculty and technical support of students. Responsible for the overall operations of Continuing Education including scheduling of classes, development of programs, and marketing of events. Oversees scheduling of intensive English courses to students from a number of countries. Facilitates the professional development agreement with the Italian Government located at Shepherd Air Force Base and the English language training of the Italian Officer pilots. Markets the programs within the community and beyond, as well as speaking at various civic functions on behalf of the University. Responsible for the University’s compliance with Federal Regulation Chapter 34, 600.9(c), which requires approval to deliver online programs to students residing in other States. Responsible for meeting state requirements to legally offer postsecondary distance or correspondence education.
Must have a strong teaching or academic background in higher education with extensive experience in training and development, as well as in applied technology in areas such as Internet methodology, professional development, and continued education.
Must have advanced knowledge of the technology of distance education and be knowledgeable in standard office practices and procedures. Should also have a working knowledge in the use of personal computers and commonly used office software programs, such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge in training, development and Internet course management systems desired.
Doctorate and full-time university teaching experience, required.
Must have effective written and oral communications skills; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must have supervisory skills and be able to work on multiple projects at the same time. Must be able to plan and work within a fiscally responsible budget. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
