Assistant Director, Extended Education
The Assistant Director assists and participates in meeting the training and development needs of faculty and coordinates, designs, and/or delivers a variety of specific training and development programs for Internet instruction. Reports to the Director, Center for Continuing, Professional, and Distance Education and performs other duties as assigned by the Director.
Delivers group and individual training and instruction covering specific areas; assists with the development of curricula and/or recommends or utilizes vendor programs that meet instructional goals and objectives; formulates training outlines and determines instructional methods, utilizing knowledge of specific training needs and and the effectiveness of methods as such individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops; coordinates and performs such other administrative functions as required to deliver and document training programs.
Two years experience in the field of online or web enhanced teaching, training, design or support as well as some teaching experience in a post secondary educational setting. Position also requireds demonstrated experience in supporting faculty and staff with online or Web-enhanced courses in higher education and assisting with technical problems.
Must have some knowledge of database design and use; be familiar with course management software; and be
Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred, with some related experience in instructional design and/or educational technology.
Must have teaching and facilitation skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; advanced verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills; and the ability to determine training objectives. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
