Title: Associate Controller
Description: Performs advanced, managerial accounting work. Work involves preparation of the Annual Financial Report, investment reports, monthly financial reports, and other analytical reports as necessary. The Associate Controller assumes all duties of the Controller in the Controllerís absence. Reports to the Controller.
Examples: Prepares adjusting journal entries as needed to record, correct, and close accounting records. Prepares all schedules for the Annual Financial Report and other special financial reports and statements as required. Responsibilities include review and approval of accounts payable documents prior to payment and review and approval of certain journal and budget entries Responsible for monthly investment activity in the absence of the Controller. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Condition:
Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive experience in governmental or private accounting.
Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of acceptable accounting procedures, practices, and principles governing maintenance of accounting records and reporting. Working knowledge of office machines, computer mainframe and PC environment.
Education: Bachelorís degree in accounting required. Masterís degree and/ or CPA Certificate preferred.
Additional Requirements: Ability to research pertinent data in a variety of accounting areas. Proficiency in the recording, examination, and reporting of financial data. Must have a team orientation; be adaptable, flexible, and cooperative; have strong interpersonal skills. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with university departments. *Regular reliable attendance is required. * This position is designated as security sensitive and requires a criminal background check.
