Title: Assistant Director, Housing and Dining Services
Description: Responsible for residential and facilities management in four residence halls and three apartment complexes with a capacity for approximately 1400 students and 14 families. Position is live-in with hall director responsibilities and reports to the Director of Housing and Dining Services.
Examples: Coordinates and supervises the selection and training of resident assistants. Evaluates the RA staff and programming to ensure applicability to the educational mission of the university and is responsible for effectively administering the programming budget. Supervises, trains and evaluates three full-time Residence Hall Directors, as well as two Graduate Hall Directors. Supervises and coordinates all residence hall openings and closings. Coordinates and promotes programs providing leadership development opportunities for students participating in student governance within the residence halls. Manages the operation of an assigned residence hall or apartment complex. Responsible for creating and implementing a residence life programming model that fits both residence halls and apartment living.
Physical Condition:
Experience: Two to four years experience in residence life management; experience in educational and recreational programming.
Knowledge: Must have knowledge of generally accepted office practices and procedures, to include budgeting and personnel management; knowledge of student development theory and of the impact of a residential living-learning environment on student development; and knowledge of theories and philosophies of student discipline.
Education: Master's degree in college student personnel, counseling, or related field.
