Assistant to Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs
Provides secretarial and administrative support to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs that involves planning, organizing and performing a variety of complex technical, clerical and administrative duties. Develops special administrative analyses and summary reports for review. Works under general supervision of the Provost with latitude for initiative and independent judgment
Handles routine and confidential correspondence. Screens visitors, schedules appointments and maintains files, fiscal records, and restricted information. Performs specialized tasks requiring high level of skill in typing, computer operation, use of transcribing equipment, taking of minutes, and preparing reports and special studies including budgetary reports.
Should have considerable progressively responsible experience in general office practices and procedures, including some administrative work and personnel supervision. PC experience - specifically Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel necessary
Excellent working knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation. Thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Skill in the use of mechanical transcribing equipment and word processing equipment (typing test required). Ability to work independently on difficult or complex assignments and to interpret pertinent policies and procedures clearly and accurately. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations.
Some college level training desired, degree preferred.
