What is Infusion?

Welcome, New Mustangs!
The Infusion program has a dual purpose. First, the program gives first-year students the resources and support needed to transition to and be successful at Midwestern State University. Second, it offers students a co-curricular experience that enhances and develops learning opportunities outside the classroom.

A student may choose to participate in a few programs or to pursue the Leadership Education and Achievement Program (LEAP) designed specifically for the student aspiring to leadership positions.

Seven Areas of Student Success

Identified as important by the MSU professional Student Affairs staff, the seven areas of student success will allow the first-year student to become "infused" in the MSU campus and culture.

The seven areas of the Infusion program include:

  • Academic Success
  • Health & Wellness
  • Civic Responsibility
  • Mentoring
  • Career Development
  • Social Engagement
  • Spirit & Traditions
Whether or not you participate in LEAP, all students (first-year and beyond) are strongly encouraged to participate in any Infusion program.

Leadership Education & Achievement Program (LEAP)

tudents achieving this distinction will be our guests at an invitation-only banquet at the end of their first year where they will be presented with opportunities for further involvement. Students successfully completing LEAP will find themselves in positions of leadership throughout campus!

Of course, this is optional, and a student may participate in ANY of the events/services in the Infusion program without pursuing the LEAP distinction; however, students interested in leadership positions are strongly encouraged to pursue LEAP. Even better, students at any level may participate in the Infusion programs, not just first-year students. However, the LEAP distinction is reserved for first-year students.

Should you decide LEAP is right for you, you will be assigned an advisor to help you through the track. Your advisor can help you tailor the recommended plan to fit your schedule and your leadership needs. Your advisor will also assist you with interpreting and using your StrengthsQuest profile.

It also provides them with an out-of-the classroom laboratory that puts theory into practice. Volunteer MSU is a program that coordinates service learning opportunities both on and off campus. The program gives students the invaluable experience of being involved in our local community, with the rewards of personal fulfillment and improved leadership skills. In addition, many students and student organizations participate in activities by donating their time, talent, and resources on a local, national, and international stage. Habitat for Humanity, Grenada Relief Fund, Katrina Relief Fund, Adult Literacy, and the local chapter of ARC are just a few examples.
