Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
Utilize radiographic terminology to properly communicate with other health care professionals regarding radiographic examinations in a laboratory setting.
Given radiographs, diagrams and skeletal parts, identify and locate the bones of the appendicular skeleton.
Describe and identify process and depressions found on the bones of the axial skeleton.
Describe and identify articulations of the axial skeleton.
Given radiographs, diagrams, and a skeleton, locate and identify bones and skull sutures of the axial skeleton.
Given the names of various procedures, explain what structures and/or functions are demonstrated.
In a laboratory setting, simulate the radiographic procedures on a person or full body phantom.
Given radiographs, evaluate in terms of: positioning, centering, and overall image quality
Given radiographs, identify relevant anatomy.
Using phantoms and human subjects, identify topographical landmarks and underlying anatomy.
Practice radiation safety in the laboratory setting.
Practice safe body mechanics in the laboratory setting.
Demonstrate proper communication with the patient and others in a laboratory setting.
Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior in the simulated laboratory setting.

The student has a responsibility to attend all classes / labs at the designated time of that class or lab. If a student does not, they will be classified as absent. The following criteria of those classifications are solely those of the instructor of this class.
Any student that arrives to lecture/lab 5 minutes after the starting time designated in the university catalogue of lecture/lab will be considered tardy. If the student arrives tardy a total of two (2) times, the student will be penalized in the form of one (1) unexcused absence.There will be no exceptions to this policy.
A student will have ten (10) minutes after the designated starting time to be present in lecture/lab. If the student is not present at that time, he/she will be considered absent. The student will be marked as having an unexcused absencefrom lecture/lab. Three (3) unexcused absenceswill result in failure of the course and possible dismissal from the program.
A student will be considered as having an excused absence from class / lab if the following criteria have been established:
If a student if affected by an illness that is not debilitating, (i.e. flu, virus infection) which may result in the student missing one or more consecutive class / lab sessions, that student will be marked as unexcused for the amount of days missed unless a doctor’s note is provided. A doctor’s note must have a statement to the affect that you were seen in the office, or you are cleared to return to classes. It does not have to state what you were seen for. There will be no exception to this policy.
Students mustrefrain from making appointments that will take them out of class / lab. Routine doctor or dentist visits are an example of this. If you leave class / lab early because of an appointment, or for any other reason, the occurrence will be treated with the same regard as an unexcused absence. However, unexpected events do occur and will be addressed on an individual basis.
CLASSROOM AND LABORATORY BEHAVIOR:
Students should practice professional behavior in the classroom and laboratory equal to what is expected in the work force. Failure to fulfill this expectation will result in the student being expelled from the classroom and/or laboratory.
Cell Phone or other Electronic Devices
Cell phones are not permitted during lecture/lab sessions. Students are required to turn off cell phones and store them in their backpacks or purses. If students are caught with cell phones (rings during lecture/lab, falls out of pocket during lecture/lab, texting during lecture/lab), they will be asked to leave, which will result in an unexcused absence for that time. NOTE:If it is absolutely necessary for a student to leave his/her phone on, the instructors must be made aware of the situation, and circumstances will be considered on an individual basis.
If students are caught with cell phones during lecture/lab testing, they will be asked to leave, receive a zero for the test, and will be subject to possible dismissal from the radiologic sciences program. Students will also be subject to the disciplinary process of the University.

The Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) provides information and assistance, arranges accommodations, and serves as a liaison for students, instructors, and staff. The DSS has assistance devices such as books on tape, recorders, and adaptive software which can be loaned to qualified individuals. A student/employee who seeks accommodations on the basis of disability must register with the Office of Disability Support Services in the Clark Student Center Room 168 or call 940-397-4140 for further information. Documentation of disability from a competent professional is required.
Individuals with grievances related to discrimination or lack of accommodation on the basis of a disability are encouraged to resolve the problem directly with the area involved. If the matter remains unresolved, advice and/or assistance will be provided by the Office of Disability Services for resolution.
