MWF 9:00 - 9:50 AM
1) Given an engineering problem, students will create and execute a Matlab script file to generate desired simulation results.
2) Given a specific machine element, students will develop an appropriate model and execute a simulation to analyze forces or stresses acting.
3) Given a system mathematical model, students will simulate its free response.
4) Given a system mathematical model, students will simulate its response to a step input function.
5) Given a system mathematical model, students will simulate its response to a periodic (frequency) input function.
6) Given a nonlinear function, students will implement steepest descent minimization techniques to determine local minima.
7) Given a nonlinear function, students will implement Newton's method minimization techniques to determine local minima.
The final grade for the course will be based on the exam scores and the average of the scores earned on the homework assignments. The lowest homework assignment will be dropped. Exam I contributes 30% of the course grade, the final exam contributes 40%, the homework assignments contribute 30%.
Homework assignments must be turned in on the due date, at the beginning of class. Once class starts, late assignments will be accepted only at the discretion of the instructor.
Attendance will be taken at the discretion of the instructor. The student is responsible for all material covered and assignments assigned/due during a missed class.
