MWF 12:00-12:50
We will cover chapters 1-3 and and least half of chapters 4 and 5 of Complex Variables, 2nd ed. sby Stephen Fisher
Prerequisite: Calculus III
Grading: There will be homework assignments. Your best 20 scores will count. In other words, you should turn in homework twice each week, but you can blow off your homework once every 2 weeks and you’ll be ok. More than that and it will start to hurt your grade. There will be 2 midterm exams and a final exam. The weighting is as follows:
Best 20 homeworks @ 24 480
Two midterm exams @ 80 160
Final exam 160
Total 800
Grades will be assigned from this figure by the usual method: 90% for an A, 80 % for a B, etc.
See course requirements
When you turn an assignment in you should put your name on each page and clearly indicate which assignment it is at the top of the first page. Do not fold your paper; turn it in flat. If you turn an assignment in during a class meeting, plan to have your graded work returned at the following class meeting.
There are no due dates, but each particular assignment will have a closing date, i.e. the last day that it can be turned in for credit. Typically the closing date for an assignment will be the first day that graded work for that assignment is returned to some student that has done it.
Please come to class. It makes me very happy when my students show up to class on time. In the event that you should need to miss a class or be late to class, you should inform me in writing in a timely fashion. Any student with more than 4 unreported absences who is not maintaining a passing average is subject to being dropped from the course.
All students should refer to the current MSU Student Handbook and Activities Calendar for university policies related to class attendance, academic dishonesty, student responsibilities, rights and activities.
