MTWR 8:00am-10:00am
The goal of this course is to continue the study of algebra started in high school and to prepare students to take
further courses in mathematics(e.g. Trigonometry and Calculus I). Concept of Function and its Domain, Range and
Graph will be seen. Linear, Quadratic, Polynomial and Rational functions and equations will be covered as well
as Logarithmic and Exponential functions.
A graphing calculator is required (suggested make: TI-84. This calculator will be used by the instructor).
There will be quizzes (nearly) every lecture.
Three tests will be given during the semester.
The (compulsory) final exam will be comprehensive.
All quizzes, tests, and the final exam are closed book tests with the use of the calculator permitted and required.
Students will write their quizzes, tests, and final exam on a provided test form.
Students are required to show all their calculations on tests.
Make-up tests will be given only in exceptional circumstances. Students must make the request for a
make-up test several days before the originally scheduled test.
Make-up quizzes will never be given.
Attendance will be taken every lecture to inform the university administration (e.g. for financial aid requirements),
but there is no attendance policy from the instructor.
The course grade for each student will be the best of the following two evaluations:
