Students will gain skills in laboratory techniques as well as explore topics relating to classroom lecture material: stoichiometry, density, states of matter, descriptive properties, periodic trends, chemical reactions, synthesis, and thermochemistry.
Each week students are expected to turn in a weekly homework assignment, the lab report, and take a quiz. A midterm and final are also required to complete the course.

All assignments are due at 1 :00 PM. Homework and reports may be turned in late for a 5% penalty each day up to one week. No assignments will be taken after this point. Quizzes cannot be made up.
Students must attend lab on the day specified on the student's schedule. Students may make up lab during the same week with instructor permission IF 1) room in the alternate room exists; and, 2) it is made up the same week as the assigned lab.
Clothing must be worn to cover from the neck/shoulder area down to the knees. This can be done with regular clothing or a lab coat.
Goggles must be worn AT ALL TIMES.
No open-toe shoes, sandals, or "flip-flops" are to worn in the laboratory.
The laboratory sheet with more detailed rules must be read and signed before lab work begins.
Any violation of the above policies will result in the student being dismissed from lab with a grade of "0" for that lab assignment. Students receiving a second dismissal will be dropped from lab.
