Attendance policy: Attendance is calculated out of 20 points. The point breakdown is:
number of absences: 0-1 2 3 4 or more
points for attendance: 20 15 8 0
Attendance will be taken at the beginning of every class. Any student who is late or who leaves early may be counted as absent. This will result in a zero on any quiz or other assignment for the day.
Homework: Homework is not counted as a specific part of your grade and will not be collected on a regular basis. However, quiz and exam problems are based on homework problems, so it would benefit you to complete every homework assignment. I will answer questions concerning homework due that day at the beginning of each class. I reserve the right to collect homework at any time.
Quizzes: There will be twelve quizzes given throughout the course, each worth 10 points. Only ten of the quizzes will count toward your final grade—the lowest two quiz scores will be dropped. For this reason, make-up quizzes will not be given.
Make-up exams are given at the discretion of the professor. If an exam is missed, every effort must be made by the student to notify the professor as soon as possible.
