The Grammar Final will be the final class day of the semester.
The class will not use the plus/minus grading system. In this class, the following numerical equivalents for grades are used: A=100-90%; B=89-80%; C=79-70%; D=69-60%; F=59-0%.
Use MLA format when submitting writing assignments. Type all writing assignments completed outside class.
Unless you have made prior arrangements with me, I do not accept late writing assignments, quizzes, or reading responses.
I allow three absences in this class; however, if you are absent from class three times during the first few weeks of the semester, I will contact Academic Services, and an advisor will contact you. Your fourth absence requires you to meet with me. Your fifth absence means that I will drop you from the course with an F.
This strict policy is in place for your benefit. Absences cause you to miss necessary instruction and deadlines.
Silence and put away all cell phones and other electronic devices. You may not leave class to answer your phone, and you may not “text” during class.
Practice courtesy. When I am speaking to the class, do not walk in front of me; wait for my invitation. When another student is speaking, listen. When a thought comes to mind, don’t blurt out your words; instead, wait for me to recognize you so that all students may hear your thought. Disruptive behavior is grounds for being asked to leave the room and being counted absent. Continue disruption can result in my dropping you from the class with a grade of F.
Use the restroom, get a drink of water, and eat before coming to class. Food is not allowed in the classroom. Leave the room if you become ill.
