Course Objectives
  • Students will acquire knowledge of the rules and methods of linear algebra.
  • Students will formulate and solve fundamental problems of linear algebra.
  • Students will classify and solve  ordinary differential equations.
  • Students will apply real and complex analysis methods, such as the Fourier and Laplace transforms, to relevant engineering problems.
  • Students will analyze mechanical vibrations in dynamic systems.
  • Students will design vibration absorbers for physical systems.

Attendance is taken sporadically; however some quizzes may be unannounced so attendance is vital.

Course Format

This course consists of three 50-minute lecture sessions per week.  Class time will be used to develop theory and to solve relevant example problems.  However, all material cannot be communicated during the lecture session; students are expected to study outside of class.  Student participation in class discussions is highly encouraged.      


Writing Proficiency Requirement All students seeking a Bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University must satisfy a writing proficiency requirement once they've 1) passed English 1113 and English 1123 and 2) earned 60 hours. You may meet this requirement by passing either the Writing Proficiency Exam or English 2113. Please keep in mind that, once you've earned over 90 hours, you lose the opportunity to take the $25 exam and have no option but to enroll in the three-credit hour course.
