The primary goal of Precalculus is to prepare you for further courses in mathematics, especially Calculus. The Calculus sequence is an essential step towards attaining further degree and career objectives especially for students in engineering and science. Hence Precalculus is also such a step. It is aimed at students for whom it will be the first of an important series of math courses rather than a last math course.
This course is NOT a good choice to simply fulfill a general education requirement. It is worth 4 credits and demands a very substantial amount of hard work.
(i) A sound knowledge of Intermediate Algebra is *required*. The instructor should not be expected to review material from Intermediate Algebra due to lack of time.
(ii) A graphing calculator is required. The instructor will be using a TI-86. However, other models or brands of graphing calculators are acceptable.
NO make-up quizzes or exams will be given. The two lowest quiz grades will be dropped at the end of the semester.
Students are expected to attend *every single class*.
