Course description:
This course is intended for the distance education learner. An overview of drug use in society and as a social problem is provided. Preventing and treating substance abuse will be briefly addressed. Laws regulating drugs will be reviewed. The way various drugs work in the body, affect mood, thought and behavior will be covered. Specific drugs addressed in detail will be stimulants, depressants and inhalants, medications for mental disorders, alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, over the counter drugs, opiods, hallucinogens, marijuana, and performance enhancing drugs.

Exams
All exams will be taken on Blackboard/WebCT during the prescribed time period. Each exam will contain only questions from those modules, power point presentations and chapters assigned. No exams will be comprehensive and all will be multiple choice.

STudents must earn 90% of total available points for an A, 80% for a B, 70% for a C and 60% for a D.
