Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

1. The student will explore topics of professionalism and ethics as they relate to the radiologic technologist. (1,2,3,4,5)

2. The students will perform 2 labs-central ray location and lead blockers with their classmates at their assigned major affiliate site and as a group submit answers to the questions at the end of the lab project.(1,2,6,7,8)

3. The student will collect 2 reject films. One repeated film for each of following categories; body part positioning, technique or equipment. For each film the student should be able to identify all radiographic anatomy, describe the positioning, critique the technical quality and give an appraisal of film and describe the reason(s) for the repeat of the film to include the corrections needed to optimize diagnostic value of the radiograph. (1,2,6,7,8)

4. The student will define critical thinking and explain why critical thinking is imperative for radiographers.(1,2)

5. The student will apply critical thinking skills, identify problems, consider alternatives and justify choices in critical thinking scenarios.(1,2,6,7,8)

6. The students will make a public service announcement to promote National Radiologic Technology Week.(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8)

7. The students will make a clinical site presentation to first year students.(1,2,3,4,5,6,7)

Your attendance is mandatory. An absence can only be excused by me and only if I am contacted before class. You will lose points from your final grade any absences as follows:

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY POLICY: Academic dishonesty (cheating, plagiarism, etc.) will not be tolerated in this class and may result in suspension or dismissal from this course and from the program. Cases will be referred to the Dean of Students for possible dismissal from the university

Conduct / Honesty / Honor System: RADS 2315 adheres to the MSU code of Conduct. In particular, academic dishonesty, however small, creates a breach in academic integrity. A student's participation in this course comes with the expectation that his/her work will be completed in full observance of the MSU code of Student Conduct. A student should consult the Student Handbook for answers to any questions about the code.

Writing Proficiency Requirement All students seeking a Bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University must satisfy a writing proficiency requirement once they've 1) passed English 1113 and English 1123 and 2) earned 60 hours. You may meet this requirement by passing either the Writing Proficiency Exam or English 2113. Please keep in mind that, once you've earned over 90 hours, you lose the opportunity to take the $25 exam and have no option but to enroll in the three-credit hour course.
