COURSE OBJECTIVES:  Students will be able:

  1. To develop individual skill for playing the game as well as for participating in intramural events.
  2. To learn techniques, rules and strategy of flag football.
  3. Develop essential skills used to participate in flag football by:
    1. Practicing acquired skills and strategies in daily game situations.
    2. Using skills in game situations.
    3. Using strategies in game situations.
  4. Develop an overall understanding of the game of flag football by:
    1. Identifying and interpreting rules of the game used by the flag football officials.
    2. Applying all knowledge of the rules and signals by officiating selected games during class time.

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. Proper attire is required. This is limited to shorts, t-shirt/ sweater, sweats and/ or warm-up suits. Soft soled shoes or cleats, no sandals or flip-flops. Abusive or explicit language, pictures, etc. on clothing is not allowed.
  2. Working toward improving your skills in football each day is required. Lack of participation will result in an unexcused absence charged to the student. Come to class ready to stretch and play.
  3. In case of bodily injury during class, medical assistance will be made available; however, insurance coverage and/ or payments will be the responsibility of the student.

Class Format:  Evaluation of skill development and attendance.

 

ATTENDANCE:  Each student is allowed 3 absences.  Each unexcused absence thereafter will cause the final grade to drop one full letter grade for every occurrence.

 

GRADING CRITERIA:       .

Participation              75%

Mid-Term                     15%

Final                            10%

Evaluation Scale:        90% and Up = A

                                    80% and Up = B

                                    70% and Up = C

                                    60% and Up = D

                                    59% and below = F

Writing Proficiency Requirement All students seeking a Bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University must satisfy a writing proficiency requirement once they've 1) passed English 1113 and English 1123 and 2) earned 60 hours. You may meet this requirement by passing either the Writing Proficiency Exam or English 2113. Please keep in mind that, once you've earned over 90 hours, you lose the opportunity to take the $25 exam and have no option but to enroll in the three-credit hour course.
