The focus of this lecture course is to train the student in the benefits and use of therapist-driven protocols. Topics include assessment skills and processing, SOAP charting, need for follow-up or reassessment, commonly used treatment protocols and diseases frequently treated with protocols. A case management format is used to simulate the clinical environment.
LECTURE EXAMINATIONS
During the semester there will be several in-depth exams covering the specified material. Examinations may consist of true/false, multiple guess, short answer or essay questions.
Presentations
Each student is required to compose 3 Power Point presentations. The presentations will be based on specific case information given to each group and presented to the class on the dates indicated on the lecture schedule. The student will provide a minimum of 5 questions covering material presented to the class per presentation. Student questions will be used in part to form the unit exams.
GRADE DETERMINATION
Exams 50%
Presentations (3) 50%
Anything not completed and handed in on time will be subjected to a 10% per day penalty (weekends and holidays excluded).
Regular attendance is expected and a requirement for successful completion of the course
