This course is designed as a first course in computing and is intended for non-CS majors. The intent is to provide a broad-based knowledge of computers, their applications, and their intrinsic roles in major areas in contemporary society. The lab provides extensive preparation in MS Office.

Software: SAM 2010 ATP Assessment, Training and Projects v2.0 for Microsoft Office 2010. The SAM access code is bundled with the CLMS Emerge access code for the required e-textbook at the MWSU Bookstore – and is cheaper than buying them separately. All training and testing will be administered through the SAM and Emerge websites; therefore, it is not possible to pass this course without purchasing the access codes. Used access codes will not work with this software.
Additional Material: A USB stick will be necessary for saving lab documents. Avoid using a U3 Cruzer stick as these do not always work in the labs.

All assignments and tests will be submitted through Emerge (lecture portion) and SAM2010 (lab portion).
No late work will be accepted in this course.

Course Content: The material includes text reading assignments, lectures, videos, and homework. Students are responsible for all material regardless of attendance. The lab is a required portion of the course.
