Course Objectives

There are two primary purposes of this course. The first is your continued improvement in all areas of the French language. To this end, all communication is in French.  Secondly, this course will give you an appreciation of contemporary France, its people, and its culture and civilization. This is the study of culture with a capital "C" and culture with a lower case "c"; that is, this is a course about contemporary institutions and about daily life.

Attendance Requirements

Attendance is required. You are allowed one absence before your attendance grade is lowered 5 points for absences 2 and 3, and ten points per absence after that. Repeated late arrival will count as an absence.


Writing Proficiency Requirement All students seeking a Bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University must satisfy a writing proficiency requirement once they've 1) passed English 1113 and English 1123 and 2) earned 60 hours. You may meet this requirement by passing either the Writing Proficiency Exam or English 2113. Please keep in mind that, once you've earned over 90 hours, you lose the opportunity to take the $25 exam and have no option but to enroll in the three-credit hour course.
