STUDENT ASSIGNMENTS:
Modules 1-6:
MWP (Module Writing Project)
Each module will have one MWP, the goal of the MWP is to focus on a particular aspect of the module, and the MWP will form a part of the final FP. Each MWP must have a minimum of two unique, referenced peer reviewed articles NOT including the textbook. The professor will review each MWP, point out its strengths and weaknesses. Students should respond to these comments and use to make improvements that should be incorporated into the final FP. During the MWP the student will take on the role of an administrator in a health care organization of their choosing. Each module will contain a variety of questions that will be explored during the MWP and the discussions.
Case
Each module will have one case. Whenever possible the professor will try to design cases and questions that will help you explore issues the you will cover in your final paper.
MD (Module Discussion)
Each module will have instructor posed discussion questions. The response must be carefully thought out, and draw upon the readings or other appropriate outside sources.
Module 7
The responses in the MWP, cases and discussions may be used when writing the FP. However, not all of the information you will need to discuss in the FP will be covered in the MWP or the discussions. It is expected that you will incorporate the comments of your professor on your MWPs, cases in your FP. If you do not, it will have a noticeable effect on your final grade.
The FP must have a minimum of 12 references drawn from peer reviewed journals, government websites or statutory laws. WIKI and websites that are not academic in nature are not acceptable references. At a minimum ½ of the references must be recent (2009-2011). To find appropriate journal articles make use of the libraries databases. If you are not sure how to use them please contact the reference librarian for assistance.
The FP paper will be at least 12 full pages in length – remember title pages, abstract, table of contents and references don't count toward the page length.
The paper should not use more than 10% direct quotes. I will run your work through Turnitin to check for plagiarism; to check your own work run it through SafeAssign. SafeAssign is located on the class homepage. SafeAssign is a free software and isn't as thorough as Turnitin but it may help you catch some unintended plagiarism.
Final Exam
The final exam is cumulative, online and will be timed. Exams in this class must be proctored. Proctors can not be friends or employers. See the form for a list of potential sources of proctors. A proctor's job is to simply observe you while you are taking the exam. For a proctor to be considered as acceptable they must complete the form located on the homepage and meet the requirements noted on the form. See the class homepage for the form that the proctor must complete. Proctor forms are due to the professor by January 27th. Students who do not have a proctor form on file will be given a grade of "0" on the final.
