TR 12:30 - 1:50
Review of algebra, linear and quadratic equations, graphs, progressions and mathematics of finance, and matrix operations.
Homework: All homework will be done through the online program MyMathLab. Homework assignments will be given daily. It is your responsibility to attempt all assigned problems and to come to class prepared to discuss the material. Also, daily homework quizzes may be instituted at the discretion of the instructor.
MyMathLab (MML): This program is installed on the computers in Bolin 103 and109, and in the Clark Student Center, Library, Dillard, and Bea Wood computer labs. You may also choose to use your personal computer; however, you will need to download necessary plug-ins. Online homework problems may be printed, and the answers entered at a later time. Homework problems are also available from the book but these will not be graded. The assigned problems represent a minimum number of problems to be worked. You are strongly encouraged to work additional problems.
Grading: There will be three unit tests, a final exam, and a homework grade which will be generated from the MML assignments as well as any in-class quizzes. The final course grade will be determined by the earned percentage of total possible points.
Earned % of Total Points Course Grade
90 - 100 A
80 - 89 B
70 - 79 C
60 - 69 D
Below 60 F
Make-up Policy: If you absolutely must miss an exam, you need to notify me before the exam is given. Make-up exams are generally not allowed, so a missed exam will result in a grade of “0”. Per the instructor’s discretion, a make-up exam may be considered only in exceptional situations. Make-up quizzes will not be given.
Final Exam: The final exam will be on Thursday, December 13 from 10:30 - 12:30.
Attendance: You are expected to attend class, to arrive on time, and to remain in class until dismissed. Obviously, the only way to accomplish the work required is to be present, both physically and mentally, at every class meeting. Students may be dropped by the instructor for excessive absences (more than four) unless there are extenuating circumstances which are promptly communicated. Please refer to the university’s official class attendance policy before deciding to discontinue attending class.
