· The ethical standards of professional organizations and credentialing bodies, applications of ethical and legal considerations in professional counseling
· Professional credentialing, including certification, licensure, accreditation practices and standards, and the effects of public policy on these issues.
· Students will learn the difference between broad universal ethical principles and culture specific principles.
Case studies presenting ethical dilemmas will be an important part of the course content to enable students to develop a problem solving model for making ethical choices, along with classroom discussion and role play.

Grading Policy:
Students are expected to come to classroom having read the assignments ahead, being ready to enter into discussion and the learning process. Attendance is mandatory, with excused absences being the exception rather than the accepted rule. Three (3) unexcused absences will resulting in an automatic lowering of the final grade by one (1) letter. Thereafter, any subsequent two (2) absences will result in another lowering the final grade, etc. Any excused absence will be approved by the instructor and must be requested in writing either prior to the classroom meeting, or immediately after.
Late assignments are not accepted except by permission of the instructor
