Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
Grading / Evaluation: Completion of this course is based on satisfactory performance on the following:
Discussion board = 5%
Quizzes = 20%
Workgroup project assignment
(individual contribution) = 35%
(group contribution) = 15%
Comprehensive Final Exam = 25%
A letter grade will then be assigned according to the following scale: 90% and above = A 80% - 89% = B 70% - 79% = C 60% - 69% = D 59% and below = F
In each of the units a quiz will be given using WebCT. These quizzes are open book, open note but you will only have one hour to complete them and must be prepared as there will not be enough time to research every answer. Quizzes must be completed prior to the expiration date below. Quiz grades and answers will be released after the deadline of each quiz. Specific questions regarding the quizzes may be addressed to the instructor. Quizzes may NOT be made up if missed and a zero will be recorded. No extra credit activities are available.
Assignments are a significant portion of the grade and represent application of the material studied. All assignments are to be submitted as instructed in each unit. Points will be deducted for improper format. Proper APA format must be used where appropriate. Plagiarism will be graded harshly. Assignments must be received prior to the deadline. Late assignments are automatically dropped one letter grade per week past the due date and will NOT be accepted 3 weeks beyond the deadline. A zero will be recorded for assignments not submitted or meeting the final deadline.
The final exam will be given using Blackboard and will be comprehensive. IT IS TO BE TAKEN WITHOUT THE BENEFIT OF BOOKS, NOTES, OR REFERENCES OF ANY KIND. YOU MUST take the final exam at a college or university testing center. You may take the exam at ANY college or university testing center and some will charge a small fee to take the test. You are responsible for this testing fee to take the exam. You are responsible for making arrangements for a proctor by contacting an official from one of the categories listed below. THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE PROCTORS ARE:
No Proctor outside of the above areas will be approved. APPROVAL IS AT THE DISCRESSION OF THE COURSE INSTRUCTOR Please see the form on the course homepage for instructions. Completion and submission of this form DOES HAVE A DEADLINE (SEE BELOW).
This is an online course and as such there are no mandatory sessions. However, the student should be vigilant in checking email and logging onto WebCT. Regular checks will ensure that messages from the instructor and fellow students are received in a timely manner. This course is on a schedule that will be strictly adhered to (see table below). I will be available to meet face-to-face with anyone who is interested. This meeting is NOT mandatory and please call in advance if you wish to meet.
