Course Objectives
  1. Students will describe how various factors and interrelationships (personality, motivation, arousal, stress, anxiety) impact individual and group behavior and performance in the context of sport and exercise.

 

  1. Students will examine pedagogical concepts and strategies (competition, cooperation, feedback, reinforcement, intrinsic motivation) that contribute to the creation of a positive learning environment.

 

  1. Students will explain how group processes (team dynamics, group cohesion, leadership, communication) impact performance in a physical activity setting.
  2. Students will analyze various psychological skills and techniques (arousal regulation, imagery, self-confidence, goal setting, concentration) used to facilitate learning, performance, and rehabilitation.

 

  1. Students will recognize and describe how exercise and physical activity enhance health and well being across the lifespan.

 

  1. Students will recognize and explain how participation in sport and physical activity impacts psychological growth and development.

Other Policies
  1. All assignments must be submitted as word docs.

 

2.     All assignments must be uploaded through the assignment tool.

 

3.     Assignments typed into the response box, attached to email, or hand-delivered will not be accepted.

 

4.     Late assignments and exams will not be accepted.

 

5.     There are no "do overs" or extra credit.

 

6.     You must complete your assignments on your own. Any submission that appears similar to another person’s paper will result in a grade of 0 for that assignment.

 

7.     Blatant cheating or plagiarism will result in dismissal from the class with a grade of F.

 

* Copying text directly from any document, including the textbook, is considered plagiarism.

 

* Copying and pasting material from the Internet is considered plagiarism.


Writing Proficiency Requirement All students seeking a Bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University must satisfy a writing proficiency requirement once they've 1) passed English 1113 and English 1123 and 2) earned 60 hours. You may meet this requirement by passing either the Writing Proficiency Exam or English 2113. Please keep in mind that, once you've earned over 90 hours, you lose the opportunity to take the $25 exam and have no option but to enroll in the three-credit hour course.
