Student will be able to use the Automation Studio software to draw and design hydraulic and pneumatic circuits. Homework and Lab.
Student will be familiar with commonly used hydraulic and pneumatic components. Tests.
Student will be able to perform calculations in order to size the components of a hydraulic circuit. Tests and homework.
Student will be able interpret and sketch hydraulic circuits using ANSI symbols. Tests and homework
Student will be able to plumb and wire hydraulic/pneumatic and electrical control circuits. Labs.
Students will be able to design hardwired electrical logic circuits using Automation Studio for hydraulic and pneumatic circuits. Tests, HW, Lab
Student will be famiar with servo hydraulic circuits and components. Test
Student will be able to collect and interpret data from hydraulic circuits. Labs
Student will be able to work in teams in the laboratory. Labs
You are expected to attend class and are responsible for notes, homework assignments, and exams missed while being absent. Attendance will be taken at random times during lecture and lab. You are only allowed to sign yourself in.
Once class starts, the use of cell phone and/or pager, reading a newspaper, conducting private discussions, using the computer (unless asked by your instructor), working on anything that is not directly related to the course, making derogatory remarks about a classmate or your instructor will not be accepted and may result in your dismissal from the class. You can come see the instructor in his office for any concerns you have regarding the class. You cannot talk to other students in class because this is disruptive.
1. Three tests will be given. This includes the final exam. Each test counts for 23.33%
of the total grade. (70 %)
2. Homework assignments (10%) includes electrical/fluid power design project (5%)
3. Lab Reports (15%)
4. Attitude, participation and attendance (5%)
Note: Course grade may be affected by class attendance. Attendance is considered very important. See # 4
Make-Up Exams: You are expected to take the exam on the scheduled date and time it is given. However, if for some acceptable reason you are not able to do so, then you must inform the instructor in advance. The instructor will then decide whether you will be allowed to take a make-up exam, depending on the validity of your excuse.
General Education Statement:
Students in this course must demonstrate their ability to write in the English language. All
paperwork turned in will be graded not only for correctness in course subject matter, but also for
correctness in grammar and spelling. Students will use the Automation Studio software to draw
and design hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
Homework assignments must be turned in on the due date, at the beginning of class. Once class starts, no homework will be accepted. Do not ask one of your classmates to turn in an assignment for you. It will not be accepted. You are not allowed to work on homework during the class period. Students work in teams Each individual student must turn in the lab report at the beginning of class. This lab report should be the same for all team members, but I want to return my comments to each student. You should have your name listed first and then you list the correct name of all your team members. Students should be present at the beginning of the lab period in order to turn in the lab reports. No late lab reports will be accepted. The lab format report will be discussed later.

Attendance and other policies: Attendance is recorded for each class. University policies stated in the
student handbook are followed in regard to absenteeism. Any behavior on the part of any
student that is disruptive to classroom learning will be handled according to the MSU Student
