The successful student will:
Demonstrate familiarity with the glossary of systematic botany
Possess the knowledge and skills needed to identify flowering plants
Recognize ~100 plants on sight
Be familiar with ~50 plant families
The student is expected to attend each classroom and laboratory meeting.
The grade for this course will be based on six scores:
Two lecture exam scores
Two laboratory exam scores
One cumulative score for course exercises
A score for the plant collection submitted at the end of the laboratory
A=90-100%
B=80-89.9%
C=70-79.9%
D=60-69.9%
F<60%
The format for submission of each exercise will be explained when the exercise is assigned.
Deadlines for assignments will be observed. Late work will receive no credit.
Attendance records will be kept to supply that information to university offices that require it.
Attendance at all scheduled meetings of the lecture and laboratory sections is expected.

Out of courtesy to classmates and the instructor, please
1) don't walk across the front of the classroom after class has begun or before class has ended.
2) don't converse during lectures, videos, examinations or other classroom activities.
At the beginning of each class period, turn off cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices that may make noise, disrupt or distract.
