Course Objectives

 Course Objectives:

  • Students will understand the principles of functional web design
  • Students will learn to use MS FrontPage as a tool for web page design
  • Students will discuss ethical, social and legal issues in computing related to web design and use

Course Expectations

TENTATIVE:  All requirements listed below are subject to change based on the progress of the class and/or other extenuating circumstances.

LECTURE

  • 2 Major Exams and 1 Final Exam
  • Homework Questions on each chapter
  • 3 Essays
  • Other assignments & projects as the course progress warrants

LAB

  • 1 Major Exam
  • Several daily quizzes
  • Required daily lab work
  • Major Project - Development of a complete web site

Submission Format Policy

Details for assignment submission will be stated in each assignment document. 

Some assignments will be turned in hard copy, some will be emailed to the instructor, and others will be posted to a web site.



Note: You may not submit a paper for a grade in this class that already has been (or will be) submitted for a grade in another course, unless you obtain the explicit written permission of me and the other instructor involved in advance.

Late Paper Policy

Daily homework questions will not be accepted late.  Students who are absent may email their assignment to Dr. Halverson prior to class or turn in it early. 

Projects and papers will be accepted late for one week past the due date but will have 5 points per day deducted from the grade.

Make-up daily quizzes will not be given.

A make-up major exam will be given only for excused absences and if the arrangements for the make-up are made within 24 hours of the exam time.  Only one make-up exam is allowed per semester.


Plagiarism Policy Plagiarism is the use of someone else's thoughts, words, ideas, or lines of argument in your own work without appropriate documentation (a parenthetical citation at the end and a listing in "Works Cited")-whether you use that material in a quote, paraphrase, or summary. It is a theft of intellectual property and will not be tolerated, whether intentional or not.

Attendance Requirements

Students are expected to attend the class on a regular basis.  Excessive absences may cause the student to be dropped from the course.  Students are responsible for all assignments and material covered in the course, even when absent.  It is recommended that the student contact the instructor by email or phone ASAP regarding any absence.


Writing Proficiency Requirement All students seeking a Bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University must satisfy a writing proficiency requirement once they've 1) passed English 1113 and English 1123 and 2) earned 60 hours. You may meet this requirement by passing either the Writing Proficiency Exam or English 2113. Please keep in mind that, once you've earned over 90 hours, you lose the opportunity to take the $25 exam and have no option but to enroll in the three-credit hour course.
