This lab section meets Monday afternoon at 1:00-3:50 PM.
The Laboratory will illustrate and clarify concepts and principles of biology.
The Laboratory will enhance the student’s scientific reasoning.
The Laboratory will improve the student’s professional writing.
The student is expected to attend each meeting of the lab.
The student is expected to participate fully in the activities of the lab meetings.
The student is expected to submit assigned work demonstrating her/his best work.
The student is expected to meet deadlines.
Scores will be calculated as follows:
Attendance (Weekly, on time) 5%
Quizzes (Weekly) 10%
Reports, Results and Reponses (Weekly) 35%
Review Questions (D2L, Weekly) 10%
Midterm Examination (Week 7) 20%
Final Examination (Week 15) 20%
Scores will be submitted to the instructor of Principles of BIology I who will incorporate them as 25% of the overall course grade.
Format for submission of exercises and reports is specified as they are assigned.
Grades are assigned, in part, on proper formatting of submitted work.
Deadlines for exercises, reports and exams will be enforced.
Attendance is required at all scheduled meetings of the lab.
Assignments will be submitted in physical form – no e-mail submissions will be graded.
No review sessions will be scheduled. Instead, use lab time to master information and/or visit instructor office hours or TA tutoring times to ask questions and get help with report writing problems.
Graduating seniors will complete the lab entirely, including the final exam.
