Course Objectives
  1. To provide athletic training students with the knowledge and skill of palpation of bony and soft tissues. 
  2. To provide athletic training students with the knowledge and application of muscle insertion, origins, actions and ROM.
  3. To provide athletic training students with the knowledge and skill to apply prophylactic and supportive taping and bracing common in athletic training.
  4. To give the opportunity for athletic training students to interact and learn from other allied health care professions involved in the palpations of bony and soft tissues.
  5. To assess knowledge and skills through assignments and practical examinations.

Late Paper Policy

No late assignments or exams will be given, unless due to an excused absence.

Attendance Requirements

This is a laboratory class, where hands-on experience will be obtained and practiced. Attendance is mandatory.  Two absences will be allowed without penalty.  After the second absence, your semester grade will be dropped one letter grade.  For each additional absence, your grade will drop another letter grade.  Make up examinations will be provided within one (1) week of return to class, provided the absence is excused.


Writing Proficiency Requirement All students seeking a Bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University must satisfy a writing proficiency requirement once they've 1) passed English 1113 and English 1123 and 2) earned 60 hours. You may meet this requirement by passing either the Writing Proficiency Exam or English 2113. Please keep in mind that, once you've earned over 90 hours, you lose the opportunity to take the $25 exam and have no option but to enroll in the three-credit hour course.
