The goal of this course is to provide students with the foundations in algebra and trigonometry in preparation for Calculus I. Transformations of functions, Polynomial functions, Exponential and Logarithmic functions will be covered. Also, the basic concepts of analytical trigonometry will seen including topics such as the inverse trigonometric functions and the law of the sines and the law of the cosines.
There will be (approximately) 13 weekly homework assignments during the semester, as well as three tests and a final exam. All tests and the final exam will be closed book exams. Calculators will be permitted during all tests. Detailed Solution keys of all homework and tests will be put on the university website as soon as they are handed in or taken.
The course grade for each student will be the better of the two following evaluations:

LETTER GRADE: In this course, the course letter grades will correspond to the following course grades:
A 85 % and above.
B 75 % to 84 %
C 65 % to 74 %
D 55 % to 64 %
F Below 55 %.
Homework assignments need to be written on 81/2 x 11 paper and must be stapled.
They can be written in pencil or with a ball point pen.
Make-up tests will generally not be given. Make-up tests will only be given in exceptional situations and when the student has made the request well before the scheduled test. Late homework are not accepted.
It is strongly recommended that students attend all lectures. Attendance will be verified at the beginning of every lecture. Students who miss more than four lectures will be warned of their absenteeism but will not be withdrawn from the course.
