James L. Heironimus 


Professor Heironimus is formerly (retired) the Director of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, in Austin, Texas.  There he also serves on the Governor’s Commission on Homeland Security as well as several other law enforcement and security committees. 

Director Heironimus has over 43 years of law enforcement experience, serving as a patrol officer, state police investigator, undercover narcotics and organized crime investigator, homicide detective, criminal intelligence investigator, criminal investigations supervisor and commander, Chief of Police, and as an Agent with the United States Department of Justice. 

Director Heironimus holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law, a Master’s Degree in Strategic Planning and Organizational Development and has completed studies for a PhD in Criminal Justice Management at Sam Houston State University. 

Director Heironimus is the author of numerous law enforcement articles and publications,  has lectured throughout the United States, has served as an adjunct professor at Sam Houston State University, as well as numerous other colleges and universities.  His specialties include Terrorism, Smuggling and Human Trafficking, Homicide Investigation, and International Crime with special emphasis on Strategic Planning and Organizational Development.
