Interests

My main interest is in the advancement of mathematics teaching and the retention of present and future mathematics students.  I was certified as a trainer for effective teaching of the essential elements of instruction in algebra and geometry by the Texas Education Agency in 1990. I co-directed an MSU Faculty Research Grant in 1995 that emphasized the retention of 7th and 8th grade girls in math and science classes.  I continue to help coordinate "Math, Science & U", a conference for 6th - 8th grade girls that stresses the importance of math and science in careers.  I am presently working to develop new material for a precalculus course that better integrates topics in trigonometry with topics in algebra.  I am always interested in technology that will improve the teaching and learning of mathematics.
