Interests

As an undergraduate at the Eastman, I began teaching private piano lessons at the Hochstein Memorial Community Music School part-time.  While a graduate assistant at Michigan State University, I taught applied lessons in piano to majors and non-majors. As full-time faculty, I continued to teach applied piano at Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi and at the University of Kansas.  Hired at Midwestern State to teach applied piano, I have also taught romantic and twentieth century music history, class piano to music and non-music majors, music appreciation, basic music theory, and presented a recording workshop/seminar during one summer session.

Outside of academia, I have taught private piano lessons in my home in East Lansing, Michigan; Lawrence, Kansas; Jackson, Mississippi; and in Wichita Falls, Texas. Presently, I am also serving as a church choir director in Jacksboro, Texas, but have served in Lansing, Michigan; Jackson, Mississippi; and Wichita Falls, Texas.

My interest in audio recording has given me the enjoyable opportunity recording area and region choral and band concerts for the Texas Music Educators Association; high school choirs and bands; church and community concerts, symphonies, ensemble concerts, soloists, even one opera as well as selected university performances.
