Applied Research

Co-Principal Investigator:

"Effects of Student Completion of College Connection Course on Academic Progress".  Fall 2007. [with Naoma Clark and Pamela Moss]  This study utilizes a continuous performance matrix of semester grade point averages of beginning freshmen students.  this research has been presented at several different national conferences on the first-year experience and student success.  The findings of this study are used in planning and improving an introductory college level course for beginning college students.

"A Longitudinal Study Exploring the Changing Reading Habits of American College Students from the Freshman through the Senior Year of College".  August 2013. [with Dr. Jeff Blacklock, Assistant Professor of Education an Reading, West College Education, Midwestern State University; and SusAnn Key, Assistnat Professor Academic Success Center, Midwestern State University] This research examines the reading habits of American college students starting their first semester of college and continuing intermittently to their senior year of college. Started Fall 2013.

Co-Principal Investigtor:

"Effects of Student Completion of College Connections Course on Academic Progress". [with Naoma Clark and Pamela Moss] Ongoing collection, review, and evaluation of data collected from MWSU 1233, College Connections, is utilizd to monitor academic progress and effectiveness of this course in student success during the first year and is tracked using a continuous performance matrix.
