My primary career goal is to teach students at the freshman level how to think critically, analyze data, and learn the basics of chemistry through the lecture and laboratory.  The POGIL group method, professor-student meetings, and tutorials further this process.  Outside of the classroom, my interests are in educating incoming college students about college life, academics, and the sciences.  I have directed the Red River Regional Science Fair, been the advisor to the American Chemical Society Student Affiliates and the Sigma Phi Lambda sorority.  I have also written local and private funding grants for the MSU Forensics Camp, MSU Chemistry Camp, and the MSU Texas Governor's School. 

Other interests include service learning and the importance of giving back to communities in the form of talents gained through academic degrees or funds acquired through personal success.  The MSU Great Day of Service is a campus project that allows students an opportunity to serve the community through group or individual efforts.  In turn, students learn how to use their career and resources to give back to those in their communities.
