Interests
Academic research is a passion of mine. From my earliest exposure to the field of Social Work, I have respected the hard work of adding to the body of knowledge through rigorously executed experiments and ground-breaking published work. As a Ph. D. candidate, I translated this respect into action, completing a dissertation study of a hardly known and much underserved population of Black Indians in Louisiana. My dissertation, “Assessing The Identity Of Black Indians In Louisiana: A Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis” was groundbreaking in the fact that there was nothing in the research literature about this population. My research study is now being used to assist with the legal validation of official recognition for an Indian tribe in Louisiana.
Although my dissertation focuses on a single topic, other areas that interest me for future research are “The leadership styles of Black supervisors” and “Perceived discrimination by social workers from other social workers.” I am presently interested in conducting research on rural feudalism in the Mississippi delta. I have made numerous national paper presentations reflecting social and economic justice themes. |
