Upward Bound assists qualified high school students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to improve their academic skills in order to prepare for and succeed in college. MSU Upward Bound is one of 770 similar programs at schools all over the United States funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

High school students from participating schools who are from families whose annual income does not exceed guidelines set by the Department of Education are eligible to participate. Eligible students also come from families in which neither parent has a four year college degree. High school seniors are not eligible for admission.

Interested students may complete an application which includes information from the student, parent/guardian, teachers and guidance counselor. Applications can be picked up at the Upward Bound office or your local high school guidance office. Completed applications may be returned to the Upward Bound office or to the high school guidance office.
